Played on a open school league

  • #2
Hi dduvshani! With 99 and a limper in front of me, especially in a league game where I need to conserve chips, I'm going to limp behind and try to setmine. I don't want to raise and bloat the pot with a marginal hand when I don't have to. If I was the first one in, I would raise, but with a limper in front of me, I'm much better off limping behind to setmine. I flop middle set on a wet board. Here is why I don't want to raise preflop. I need to make a value bet here and with 4 opps, I need to make a pot-sized bet. By not raising pre, this saves me chips as my bet here would not be as large. I do not want to shove here. There are a number of draws available and I do not have the current nuts. Yes, it's a made hand, but with 2 more board cards, it can easily not be the best hand after the entire board is revealed due to the straight and flush draws (it's also not even the current nuts). When playing league games, I only want to be all in if I'm blinded in or I'm absolutely certain that I will have the best hand after the entire board is revealed. I cannot take chances in these games, as the negative league points that I get for an early exit (and subsequent monthly leaderboard money lost) will never be worth more than a few tournament chips that I can gain. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
