villain is unknown Would you call here and why? What clues can we pick up and make the correct decision? Would value hands raise smaller to not scare us off, or does he give us credit for a hand on that board and tries to look bluffy with a monster?

    Hi Pray,

Yes, I call for sure. SPR is low enough to commit imo.

What clues can we pick up and make the correct decision?

You are going to make yourself crazy asking questions that can't be answered. These are questions towards his thought process, and the clues would be in the form of reads (which we don't have).

Focus on ranging. People may shove like this with draws, particularly big draws, as a semi-bluff. They might shove made hands that are vulnerable and they feel they must protect(TT, JJ, etc). And they may shove monsters (sets in this case, or 98s). Sometimes they won't shove JJ as not all players think that they must protect their hand (value-own yourself enough with JJ and you start to figure out that it's lighting money on fire). Sometimes the won't shove 99 but will slow play with a call, or raise smaller to string you along. Sometimes they won't shove a draw, but play it more conservatively. So it's a best guess obv. But the range should include some made but vulnerable hands, some monsters, and some draws. How's our equity? We destroy the JJ type hands, are a marginal favorite over the draws, and are destroyed by the monsters. Combinatorically there are a lot more draws and worse made hands than monsters in his range, so our equity, it's fair to estimate, is north of 50%.

If you also go through the exercise of constructing our own range in this situation, what would it be? Now, what parts of that range should we call a shove with? Certainly the very top of our range would be in the call off category here in a low spr situation, and AA is going to be at the very top of our range in this spot.
