  • 2NL Full Ring Pre-Flop: Did I over-raised?

I am attaching my hand review as YouTube Link.

    Here's my thought process:

Normally, when I have monster card or very strong card, I like to shut down my opponents and get a safe return. If they call, that is also good.

However, in this case, I knew my opponent had bad cards. I feel I should have min raised and get more chips out of them. Should I have let them see the flop? After then, I could have bet high and not risk the turn or river draw.

Hi aznhaxor, I think it is very important to keep your betsizes the same because if we are changing our betsizing according to the strength of our cards then we will be predictable and exploited by our opponents. My opening sizes from all positions is 3bb (+1bb for every limper) and I tend to open 2.5bb from the BTN. My 3bet raise is 9bbs or 10bbs when OOP and 4bet sizing is 22bbs. So these are general rule of thumbs I follow both when I am raising as a bluff or for value.
