  • easy when I flop the quads

I have been posting mostly losing hands... I floped quads and I was patient and risked to get only small pot but it payed off... I was also tanking a while on a turn bet should I do like that always with nuts?

    Hi pek,

It's a hard spot in general to get value, since when we drop the hammer players will suspect we have a big blind special, 3x, 73, etc...

So firstly I'll go based on reads, which you have none provided. Failing that, I'll choose the line that I think is least threatening. For me that's betting immediately on the flop. When we lead out on the rag board, we get less credit for a big hand because so many people tend to slowplay. It also has the dual purpose of starting to build the pot immediately, which is pretty important in a limped pot with no money out there.

We got very lucky imo that this villain is a poor decision maker. When you check-raise the river he should have simply called, his Q high flush is in bad shape vs. your value range, which will be slow played boat heavy. 3-betting and stacking all the way off on the river is really bad by villain. Given that he flopped a flush draw and turned to pair, we could have facilitated big action by beginning it immediately. Not all villains will be this generous with their river action when we spring to life. If he hadn't made a flush, but was holding just a 7, the river goes check/check and we win a .17c pot. The perils of slow playing.

Observe and take notes. Go back through hands via the viewer after a session maybe. I think Sandtrap wrote about doing this, he climbed the ranks in zoom without using a HUD, and gathered reads by observation and note taking. Once you get an idea a villain is loose-passive, LAGgy, tight, or whatever, you'll be able to make better decisions against them.
