  • NL2$ 6-max Ac7c: Is this a correct call on the turn ?

villain_5 VP:43 PR:7 AFq:0 AF 0 (sample size 14) In this hand I have double gut shot and flush draw on the turn. I discount my outs when hitting a pair as I believe I'm behind against an overpair or a card like Tx. When reviewing the hand I think I might have been even too optimistic there as villain could have played a hand like 9-7s as well. Therefore I'm wondering now if this call was correct or should I have folded ?

On the turn, if you were planning to play check/call you might as well have shoved yourself.

between betting and folding (check/fold), best decision would depend on the villain.

but his call on the flop tells he either has a showdown hand (which has you beat), broadway cards, or a draw. You don't have too much equity (can't win more money from him), so I would lean on playing check/fold.

        Hi betsizer,

I think this guy could be peeling us really light on the flop, so we should go ahead and shove the turn ourselves. Not that I think he'll fold a pair, but he may fold hands like AJ or 22 which would be awesome for us... so we definitely have some measure of fold equity on our turn shove. And we have a lot of outs to fall back on when called.

As for calling, it's a math problem. We call .45 to win .90 so we need 33% equity to break even.

We can improve on a club, 5, 9, or maybe ace. If we give him a hand like K8s, we have 40%, against 44 we have 30%, 98s 38%. It's very close ultimately is the point, whatever reasonable range we construct, close enough to call.
