  • 5 NL zoom 6max - softly played trips and AI river call

Villain: no hands, but under stacked and non standard bet sizes.

    1. Did I play it like a fish?

    Button ($3.49)
    SB ($7.19)
    BB ($5.03)
    UTG ($6.43)
    Hero (MP) ($6.13)
    CO ($5)

Preflop: Hero is MP with J, Q
1 fold, Hero raises to $0.15, 1 fold, Button calls $0.15, 2 folds

    Flop: ($0.37) Q, 6, Q (2 players)
Hero bets $0.28, Button raises to $0.61, Hero calls $0.33

    Turn: ($1.59) A (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $0.70, Hero calls $0.70

    River: ($2.99) 4 (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $2.03 (All-In), Hero calls $2.03

    Total pot: $7.05 | Rake: $0.29

This is normally fold to me, but there was just enough reasons to call, but I wonder if there are any logical reasons too.

    Hi brave,

You know, I would call him down here. It's very thin, folding isn't terrible. His flop raises for value are 66 and Qx, but an odd short stacker can sometimes have worse Q's like QT, Q9, Q8s. His bluff raises on the flop are often going to be ace high type hands, like Ac7c that feels like it can't call your c-bet but decides to raise as a bluff. Then pairs the ace and with you just calling, thinks he's good (as odd stacked fish will do). The river is the thinnest part, but you are snapping all bluffs, QT-, and Ax that is out of line, and there's probably more than enough of that to justify calling vs. his KQ, AQ, and 66 hands.
