  • 2nl Zoom AK vs call/shove

SB 17/14; 3b 9.7; 85 hands Can he do this with AQ and lower? What's his range? I'm thinking about just calling with AK if I'm not willing to get it in if raised, but I think I just lose value that way, what do you think?

    Hi Pray,

It's tough to say if flatting or 3-betting pre is better without reads on V5 since he is the original raiser. Flatting is certainly sometimes better out of position but 3-betting here is fine as well.

Whenever a tighter player flat/back raises, they are generally very strong. I would expect him to show up with QQ+/AK a lot here. With the right reads on V5, doing this with a premium holding can make a lot of sense. For instance if V5 is a tight player who folds to 3-bets a high % of the time, then V2 might flat a monster to keep V5's range as wide as possible (and in the pot) and not lose value from raising him off his open. Once you 3-bet squeeze, and to a large sizing, it looks like you have a real hand for sure, so when V5 folds he now takes the gloves off and shoves, expecting you to call off.
