  • out of position all in call

I am on the small blind with pocket 66, holding a stack of 8.500$ blinds 300-600. a middle position 1 loose player makes it 1.200 another player makes a call, I see the perfect chance for an all in against the loose player so I push. the loose player naturally folds and the other player calls, and show's pocket 77. come on, what kind of call is that? all his stack? my disagreement was, if he had decided to play all his stack he should ve pushed from the start, than naturally i would ve folded my 66. he claimed that he placed me on AK. even so i think hes play was very very wrong.and we were only 26 runners left. of course he didnt go far on the tournament.
what do you think? was my analysis wrong?
    thanks

If he put you on AK his call was very very right.
His call was not great since you are going to shove with pairs higher than 77.
But you will also shove with AK AQ, so it makes sense for him to call your all in.
Your analysis and shove were correct, but this time your opponent had the best of it, this is called a cooler and happens a lot in poker.
