  • 5nl FR, raised having a str8

villain 5 stats VPIP/PFR 21/6 AGGR 3.2 i decide to lead for value and protection. one caller. i bet again and villain raises quite big. whats the plan here? call and see what he does OTR in case he has 56 or shove in case he gets sticky with 2 pair and set type hands?

I can see him making that move with A5/K5/55/various 2 pairs. You're going to be splitting the pot a good deal of the time but I think you'll be ahead of villain's range more often than you'll be behind. I'd be calling and check/calling any non-diamond river, but you could probably even lead out the river for value against two-pairs/sets/etc who would otherwise most likely check behind on the river.

        Hi Espada,

The guy is pretty aggressive post flop so I'm not overly concerned about 56 specifically (although it's possible)... I think he'll also have just 5's in his range, as well as sets, 2 pairs (all of which are value raises in his mind I'd guess) and some flush draws and random bluffs. He overlimped the button so I imagine all the small sets and aces up combos are possible here.

I think we're sort of stuck calling, as if we shove we really can only have a 5 and it's optimistic to think he calls us with 2 pair. If we just call he won't likely put us on a 5 so I'd expect him to bet non-diamond rivers with his entire value range and any bluffs. That's probably the best way to maximize value absent more detailed reads.
