  • 5 NL ZOOM playing SDV hand vs UTG limper

At the time when actual hand was played I had no info on the opp except for biggish stack. Can you give me some advice on turn/river here? On default I just call down.

    Hi ww,

I think check-call down is fine. I generally assume open limping is a weaker hand but there's a chance he's doing this with really strong hands. At any rate, he checks the flop back and bets the turn after being checked to twice... this doesn't have to be a Q or better, he could have a hand like T9 or just a naked T that turned a straight draw. On the river he makes what looks like a value bet but it makes little sense to value bet a Q here (of course, bad players do things that make no sense all the time). In a logical sense for him to bet for value he should show up with a hand like AT or better. But the river ace is a nice bluff card for a busted straight draw as well since if it didn't improve you it probably looks scary to you. So on balance I think it's probably marginally +EV to call this river bet, and I'll begin my info gathering right now.
