  • 5NL - Set of Aces very big river bet

Hi all: I have a really difficult time figuring out if my river fold was the correct play or if I should of called the river bet. Villain is 13/9 with only 70 hands so pretty unknown. He did had a 300 BB stack. Other than that I dont have any more info. This is the hand: Should I play this differently ?? How about bet sizes ? I am mostly sure he had the flush but could he do the river reraise with a set ? Given my hand and the pot is my fold ok or should I call ?? Best regards and thanks in advance.

Hi I like your play personally and would have took the same line on every street. The fact that you don't have the diamond ace tells me he probably does, a NIT is never raising that board with a straight or a set in my opinion, especially because you never slowed down when the flush completed on the turn. I will sometimes raise the river there if I hold only the ace but only against good thining regs. This is because I know they can't have the nut flush and will find it hard to call with any hand. I mean even with top set it was a hard call to make, but I don't think a player playing that nitty is capable of a play like this.......Good fold umbup:

      Hi Riv,

I think your line is fine here. Bet/fold seems like the right line to me in this spot. It's possible he could have AK but I doubt he's raising AK on the river, most likely with AK or a set he would raise the turn. AdXd make a lot of sense, and since this river action is extremely unlikely to be a bluff, and his entire value raising range should be flushes, bet/fold is good.
