  • NL2 set 99 in 4 way pot

kinda lame hand , i usally just fold here if i dont hit my set, i get a gutshot on turn tho , and feel i get odds to make both calls altho i sort of knew i was beat on river,...my reason really for this question is at NL2 i dont mind somtimes making these sort of calls coz its only small money but if this was nl100 im not sure id prolly just fold on flop

    Hi Taxed,

I would actually bet the flop for value once the preflop raiser checks to us. I think the PFR is going to have 2 overs a lot here and will either fold (not realizing his overcard equity in the pot) or make a bad call peeling once, either is fine. And the other players are much more likely to call with worse made hands like top pair, and smaller pockets. The guy with 77 probably calls your bet, but he's putting money in really bad here equity wise. Obv. it doesn't change the outcome since he's not folding when he turns an open ender, and in this single trial we'd actual lose a bit more money, but in the long run we're losing money not extracting value from 77 since he usually won't get there.

Turn and river play are fine imo. You can make a case for raise-folding the turn with reads as well.

the thing that annoys with hands like this is i notise over thousands of hands it seems to be all the small silly pots like this where i loose my money, somtimes i think just play fit or fold a bit more.
