I thought my opponent would 3-bet AA,KK and QQ pre flop , now I know players like to flat with these hands, I should fold when they raise me on the flop, I think this was a mistake.

Lots of players play a lot of hands a different way. But 2NL players could do this with hands like A5, any overpair, AK, AQ, very wide range.

I don't think you want to call and then bet at the next 2 streets because chances are scare cards are going to come.

I think the decision has to be on the flop, either shove or fold, and I think it's usually a fold, but against a fish it's a shove for me.

      Hi,

Against a fish this is an easy get it in spot, since they can have A5, 77, etc in addition to hands that beat you. Against a solid player or a conservative player, this is a pretty easy fold. Against a hyper aggro bluffer, call, check/call/get it in. All so read dependent.

As is with no reads, I think folding directly to the flop raise is fine (lower variance) and getting it in is fine (higher variance). With TT and no reads at all it's probably close. Would he do this with 88/99? I don't know. Would he 3b pre with AA/KK? I don't know. Would he raise the flop on a club draw? I don't know. A nice example of the power of position and the value of having reads.

That's something to mark down on a player, go through your hand histories and take notes on what players do with certain cards, what they're opening, what they're 3-betting. Most players I find don't flat with their KK, but the ones that do I have fun repeatedly beating their premium starting hands by showing up with a hand better than 1 pair because they allow me to draw out on them.
