  • 2NL zoom turn check-raise AKo

AKo really seem's to be a problem hand for me today. Playing zoom so no reads. What I'm thinking in the turn spot, what hands that called a preflop 3 bet can i now beat. Answer: AQ, AJ, AT, but only if they are not diamonds. JJ, TT, but they might just give up on the flop. And i tie with AK. I think there is no chance I'm ahead right now, what do you guys think?

I agree, I think there is very little chance you are ahead right now. What's more you are almost guaranteed to face a river bet from your opponent, so a fold here is warranted.

On the other hand I still agree with your turn bet. There are many worse hands than yours that will not check-raise but will nonetheless check-call. Those hands should not be given a free card and are most effectively value bet now as opposed to later. In short our opponent will let us know if he has a worse hand by either check-calling or check-folding and a better hand by check-raising. So when we have the opportunity to play well against his range in this spot we should take it and bet. Well played.

Thanks Gareth, always helps to know when i lose a pretty decent sized pot with a premium hand that I'm still playing good poker, and making the right decisions along the way
