  • 10NL Overplay cowboys?

Hi, played this hand week ago! Did i overplay my KK here? I don't have much reads on the vilian yet! Should I flat call his 5-bet to $5 and whatch the flop action? his min 3-bet should make me think he has at least a good pocket. Was shoving all-in a bad idea with the note he could have AA,QQ (maybe even KK, would be nice) Thanks.

    Hi ferd,

It's a pretty gross spot 130 bb's deep when he 5 bets. I wouldn't read too much into his 3b (not a min-raise btw, you raised .20c (to .30) and he raised another .40c (to .70). But when we 4b and he 5b's basically doubling our total, I think I really hate the spot.

That being said, without any reads I'm not folding KK preflop, and I don't think flatting his 5b is any good really because we'll have 10 in the pot and only 8 left behind, how are we getting away from this hand post flop anyway? If his range is ONLY AA to take this action then we should cry/fold, but without reads we can never make that assumption... I had someone do this to me in 50nl last week (fairly similar betting sequence) and show me TT, which seemed insane but there's a lot of bad play out there. If his range to take this line/get it in is QQ+ and AKs only, then you're still a 52% favorite with KK. That's a pretty tight range. Against some villains they are tighter than this but vs. them (when we have reads) we'll tend to do much better flatting their 3B and keeping their weaker 3b hands in, rather than 4b and folding out everything but KK+. Many at low levels are going to be playing a wider range than this however, and the wider they get from QQ+ and AKs, the better our equity gets. So ultimately, readless, I think your play was fine.
