I assume the c-bet is good on the flop, but what about the turn? Can I barell or just good to give up?

    Hi Nocco.

Versus an opp showing these stats, 3betting AK in the BB can be fine.

He is going to have enough hands in the range he might open raise that are not going to be 4bet hands, so you really do not have to worry overly much about not getting to at least see a flop. Also, as you are 3betting on the BTN, there is a chance that this opp may flat a 3bet wider. AK will have solid equity versus his call range, so making him pay to see the flop, as well as taking the lead oop is fine in my opinion.

The flop comes pretty dry, and by C betting you are pretty much representing AQ/KQ/KK/AA, and you may get folds from hands like JJ/TT/AK, so I think a C Bet here is fine as well.

When the villain CALLS your C Bet though, the pot has grown to $8.44, and he has just $12 or so left in his stack. It really is hard to say whether or not a 2nd barrel may have gotten the opp to fold a hand like JJ/TT...but I think since I have limited my investment in the pot to a relatively small amount, I'd be much more inclined NOT to try.

I think your C bet probably should have been a bit larger than $2.06 here, say on the order of $3. Had you bet that amount and the villain still called, it would be obvious that a turn barrel is unlikely to work. A $3 bet to an opp who is aware of how deeply invested he is becoming in the pot also may FOLD better hands than your AK (like JJ/TT) more often than he would to the smaller size you chose.

    Hope it helps.
