  • 10NL A,Qo in a 3Bet pot

Hi! guys, No reads on the opp as I have never played with him before. Given that I had no reads on the opp, would it be better to fold pre-flop or would that be too weak? Once we have hit that flop is there any way we can get away from the hand? Cheers.

    Hi DedEyez.

In my opinion, flatting here requires you to decide right up front whether you are willing to "go" on any Q or A top pair hit.

Without info, you really have nothing to go on with AQo to say for sure those hands will be good. The depth of money here (SPR going to the flop of under 2) means that the opp will probably be all in very quickly indeed, or if you do spike an A or Q, he may well give up on flop misses. In my opinion, this means you need to get maximum value from this opp if you are going to keep going in the face of no info.

This means that I'd probably prefer to decide PRE FLOP whether I am good or not, and either move all in to race with a pp JJ thru 22, or FOLD because I lack info. I think the flat to fit or fold may have been a bit better if you had been suited, as that at least gives you possible draws that you could reasonably commit to as well.

Lacking any info on the opp at all, I certainly do not think a fold is "too tight", and a flat is probably too likely to lose you full value that you NEED to buck your lack of info here. This just feels to me like an all in or fold, and an all in with no info can be really risky versus an unknown 3bettor oop.

    Hope it helps.
