  • How essential is a HUD at micros

Ok forgive me if this is a stupid question but have been a recreational player on and off for years playing poker tournaments.
Have recently started to play cash games and take them more serious, how essential is a HUD ? Also when I'm setting it up what's a good setup for micros . I don't want to be too overloaded with information at the start but want to make the most out of it.

    Hi hunky

Lots of micro players use huds. It helps them when playing many tables. Moving from tournaments to cash games as you are thinking of doing? Well, yes on the cash tables even more players are using the generic information from a hud.

Do we need to use a hud in the micros? No, but it is very important to understand how our opponents use them. A basic set up would be VPIP/PFR/3bet percentages. This gives an idea how passive or aggressive opponents behave pre flop.

I look for "reactive" play live reading a couple of tables. No hud - wow they limp and call a raise oop with that hand and it went to showdown. That's a note take and observe subsequent hands. How did they play the next hand etc..

PS. I missed making the point. The whole table saw that "fishy" player live reading and they will isolate with a wider range - depending how we are perceived. It's a table dynamic that real people see and huds don't.

Many thanks for reply Forrest ! I'm gonna trial poker tracker 4 for the free month and see how I get on. Suppose it's good to have a HUD for my own records too.
