  • SSD's as a hard drive and using HEM/ PT?

Does anyone own a SSD (solid state drive) instead of a normal hard drive and can you tell me does HEM (or PT if you use it) work much faster on a SSD?

I'm just wondering is it worth the investment considering a SSD costs about £1 per GB?

To make it short: Yes it is!

I'm using a 100GB SSD as my Main-Drive for OS, Software and HM and it works a lot faster than my previous HDD setup. I've got another harddrive for other stuff, though.

Many thanks, I have a 17" laptop and not sure if it can take 2 drives. It's also a big investement but as I load more and more hands into HEM (now at 200,000 in 8 months) I can see the time it takes. Another player I know has 2 million so it would probably be essential for him.

I have it set on the radar sometime soon but atm it's still not essential but I'd like to hear from others who use them.

I think you can make do with a good hard drive if the rest of your hardware is fast, but I agree with Gefallener. I use a 64GB SSD for my boot drive and HM2 loads very quickly. My old computer actually couldn't even open an HM2 graph; it would freeze my computer instead. My old computer had some pieces from the 90's, though.
