  • AK (MTT in the top 50)

I was recently moved to this table in a tournament that was going well for me however , should I have just folded this hand and looked for a better spot . I wanted to win it and had made few mistakes . The stack was 17BB and I was already in for 3BB Your thoughts will be appreciated I had some great fortune with a pocket pair when short stacked and hitting a set with JJ's to double up to $48000 and felt I was well placed to do even better but , might I just protect my stack with a fold in the future ? I really do not know whether I did the right thing . Thankyou .

if you fold, you're only leaving yourself with an M of about 7. Unless there was a large payout jump with only 1 or 2 more getting KO'd (which probably is not the case)... then I'd gladly play AKs there.

If you're going to win a tourney, you will have to win a few races.

I don't think I'm ever raise/folding AKs on a 17 bb stack in a standard pay structure MTT. Don't be results oriented, the result of an individual trial isn't relevant it's the long term results that are important. Raise/folding a premium hand with less than 20 bb's is usually going to be a pretty big leak.

I would snap call. Holding a premium hand on 17 bb's I don't think stack protection should be a concern. Had you been well above average in chips than protecting your stack could be of concern, but not in this case.

OK , that sounds good . I like the idea of it all coming together one day to take down one of these MTT's , I shall keep trying to do the right thing .

          Thankyou .
