  • AK with 25bb

I was wondering if this is a good lay down or not? My thinking was because there was 4 people in the pot and my stack was 25bb, it wouldn't be a wise decision to risk all of it on a coin flip.

at that blind level, you should have already been ITM... so now, what you want to do is to climb the pay ladder and accumulate chips for a FT run.

Against that many preflop, against random hands, you're under a 40% winner. If they have real hands, it's even less. That makes it much worse than a coin flip.

If I could be isolated against 1 opponent, I call it, but against 4 others, I'd try to find a better spot.

Even if it's you against only 2 random hands, you are going to lose more than you'll win with it.

Now.... if it's after the flop and I see the A, it's entirely different, as it's a quick shove.

Great fold!! You have about 25 BBs, which figures to be a pretty decent stack at the moment, and one of the few really dangerous stacks has put you to a decision for basically all your chips. If it was the 10k or even the 12k stack I would happily reraise all in to isolate.

Hard to say where I would draw the all-in/fold line here, probably KK+. Losing a hand here is just too devastating when you have such a workable stack.

Even if it 's just you against one big stack I lean towards a fold...

How many players are left and what is the average stack? I think against a single player's range you're probably getting okay calling odds, but against a really tight player you may only be 50% or less which given stack sizes may not be enough. Losing this hand all but knocks you out of the tournament. (You're in the BB in two hands and will be pot-committed with any two.)

As played this is a fold. On the other hand, if a big stack had raised it up, and the action was on you, pushing all in would be a great move! Massive fold equity with your stack and a monster to fall back on if called.
      4 Time Bracelet Winner
