  • KK 5th hand in the sunday storm.

So I was playing the sunday storm and this situation occured, Should I have called the shove or not?

It was like the 5th hand and I thought that it\s not worth a coin flip at this stage of the tournament so I folded.

First, let me start with this because I'm partial to this situation (I've played that tourney twice and KK burnt me).

With it being that early in the tourney, I'd muck them to the shove. Someone can easily have AA or Ace/anything and outdraw you. Let alone the other combos that people can draw at to beat you.

It's alot easier to muck them when someone pushes you that early in the tourney, but it's not an easy hand to let go of.

      NO!!!!!!!!

KK is NEVER a coinflip unless you're against KK. Too many hands besides AA are shoving here. You'll get plenty of dipsos shoving any pair, any ace, any suited connector, two broadways, etc. This probably isn't even the first time he's pushed. Against anything besides AA and KK you're a HUGE favorite.

Also, note that he's pushed 154 BBs all in during the first level...this generally means one of two things: he's an idiot and you're way ahead of his range or he's just gambling for a big flip early and you're way ahead of his range. Yeah, it's possible he has aces or an ace and the board will match it to knock you out, but by far most of the time you're doubling up early, which is hugely advantageous.

You have the chance to get it all in preflop with the 2nd best possible starting hand...you have to take it.

        Im never folding KK.

I think people play the Sunday Storm way to tight.
Most times I have made it to the 1000 left point it is just flipping and calling shoves or shoving yourself. You just cant sit back in this one.
So if you can get a chip lead early it allows you to bully tables near the bubble and call shortstack allins, its just to much value to pass up on.Treat this tourney like a turbo and you will do a hell of a lot better in the future.

for me... any other tourney, it's an instant call.

Only reason I said what I did is due to my first statement, which is why I said what I did first.... I'm 0-for the tourney with KK, especially early.
