  • Am I Getting Basic Concepts Correct? (Preflop 3Betting on the Bubble)

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, 1.2 Tournament, 50/100 Blinds (4 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    BB (t2780)
    UTG (t3700)
    Panicky (Button) (t2615)
    SB (t4405)

    Panicky's M: 17.43

Preflop: Panicky is Button with J, A
UTG bets t300, Panicky raises to t2615 (All-In)

By 3betting, I was thinking that I might get stronger aces to lay down (not really likely at this table, but possible as the table was playing kind of tight for a midday $1 event), and if I was called by an unlikely pair, I'd be racing more often than not. I was trying to get everyone to fold. I wasn't trying to inflate the pot, because I didn't think worse would call.

For what it's worth, I had been quite active, making small 2.25x-2.75x raises, getting a lot of respect from my open raises, and I had called a number a rejams and won. I had also layed down my hand to rejams one or two times. I don't think I had tried rejamming myself up until this hand. I think I was playing kind of loose/aggressive, but it was working for me, since I was constantly building my stack. I was knocked down several times by bad beats, but kept climbing back.

Was this a good 3betting scenario, or did I make a weak move?

Thanks again to any who comment!
