  • Bankroll getting smalller everyday. Need Advice

Im young and ive been playing poker for about 2 years. I have a near 50$ bank roll and i play big field mtts of0.50 an 0.27. I built up this bankroll playing them but now i just keep losing and cashing small prizes.
i really feel like im playing way better then when i started but the numbers wont show it. Should i play cash? Plz give me some advice thx.

Downswings are part of the game. You can't hit big cashes every tournament. As long as you're posting some sort of profit then keep as you are.
Cash can be either a quick way to make profit or a quick way to say goodbye to you're roll. If you're tempted then start at 2nl and see how it goes.

Hi SLiGiX! With more players in MTT's, they're going to have a bit more variance. That's why we need to have 100 buy-ins in our bankroll before playing a given level of game. It's not uncommon to see 30 or more games in a row without cashing, sometimes much more, so I need to be read for these streaks to happen. When I hit a streak like this, I need to go back thru the hands and see if there are any of them that I misplayed or situations that I miss, especially around the bubble, as I want to be taking advantage of the tourney bubble and not folding my way to a min cash. The times that I chip up will more than make up for the extra ones where I don't cash. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Thanks for the replies . One more question. Would you reccommend the 0.50c and 0.25 c 45, 180 or 90 man turbo sit n gos? Its weird but i find them harder to cash then the 4000 ppl turbos. Im trying to find a tournment were i can profit so i can keep having fun playing without my bankroll getting smaller.
(I am no shark but im also not a fish. Ive read and played a lot and i understand tournment poker).
So what do you guys reccomend me to play with my 50$ banroll at pokerstars?
          (sorry if weird english)

With a $50 roll, any of the quarter or 55 cent games. You can play anything from the 45's up thru MTT's. What you'll want to do is to try the different games and see which ones fit your game better.

turbos are higher variance so you could avoid those ones

what were the stacks and blinds... they could have been played correctly, they could have been played very wrong.... without knowing the stack sizes, blinds, opp's tendencies, there's no way to say for sure.

I can say that the only time I want to shove is IF a standard bet puts over 1/3 of my chips into the pot.

                    blinds 25 50 stack: 1600 aprox

I defend with k7 suited (probably should have folded there)
                    Heads up flop comes K J 3 he bets 120 i call
Turn 7 he bets 250 i raise all in because i knew i was an agressive player and could even have middle pair
He calls with kq turns come j

In the other one floped a straigth with 46 off vs 4 players in low blinds 1400 stack and i force them all in to avoid draws because if i bet less they all call and get me on the river somehow.
                    1 call with flush draw
What are the odds of completing the flush anyways like 1 out of 3 rigth?

First one is a fold pre. On the flop, was this a bet of 1/2 pot, if not then I need to make a standard raise. On turn, with 2 pair, I'd make a standard raise.

2nd one is a pot bet on the flop and is not a shove unless this puts 1/3 of my chips in the middle. Odds of hitting a flush are 9 outs * 2% per out per street, so if they get to see both streets, it's 36%. As long as there are enough chips in the middle already (not stated how many), then the opp could easily have the correct odds to call a shove here.. why I don't want to blindly shove. If the opp has the odds, they will gain chips from me on average each and every time.

Overbet shoving leads to a huge problem.. getting value owned, as the opps should only call if they have a +EV play against me (one where they expect to gain chips).

Hi yes good idea not play exclusively mtts, sng or cash should help reduce variance a bit the PSO bankroll article suggests not playing mts exclusively and has lots of useful information
