  • Showdown vs Value

Can someone explain me the definition of showdown hand vs value hand? Thank you.

(Fat) Value hand - One that is close to the top of your range (or near the nuts on the board) so can be bet for value (often on all three streets), as worse hands can call.
Showdown value (SDV) hand - One that is of marginal strength. It's probably the best hand about 50% of the time, but if you try betting on every street you won't get called by worse, so it's best to check at least one street in order to keep worse hands in the pot and to get to a cheap showdown.
