  • House Ring Game Starting Strategy

    Hi all,

There are often two ways to start off in a ring game when playing with friends at home etc.: play aggressively to accumulate lots of small pots to gain a quick advantage; or play tight to save yours chips until you get a good hand.

However, I'm speculative of both, and often wonder if either actually works.

I would like to ask the PSO community their views on starting strategies - possibly including tournament games too - and how you should play.

Frequent questions include: "what do I do with Aces first hand" and "how do I take down an aggressive starting player"

    Many thanks,
    Lloydor

    Hello Lloydor,

Welcome to PokerSchoolOnline. Here's a short video about PSO and what it has to offer you. Also check out >>This Page<< for more info.

Personally I try to play a tight, aggressive style of poker as it's what I feel I can make work. But there are many ways to skin a cat and what works for one person may not work for someone else. I think really it's all about balance. Playing only good hands for the most part and play them aggressively but also stealing or playing speculative hands when you think you can do it profitably otherwise your opponents will never give you action when you want it.

We're here to help you so please feel free to ask any questions you may have and thank you for being a member of PokerSchoolOnline.

    Cheers,

    Chris
