  • Heads up Hyper Multitable Tournaments.. Optimal open-raise size?

What do you think the optimal raise size is first hand on those heads up hyper tourneys given antes and everything? Assuming competent opponent.

    Hi,

The optimal amount to be raising on the button during the first level should be 2 x the big blind. This raise size should stay consistent throughout the match as we do not want to give away tells about the strength of our hand.

On the later blind levels we need to take into consideration the effective stack depths when deciding to enter a pot for a raise, example: if the villains stack depth is 10bb we should be raising all in as opposed to min raising, as it's very difficult to play post flop poker on short depths coupled with the fact that either you or the villain will connect with the flop about 33% of the time. Keep in mind this is by no means the default approach..sometimes it might be correct to limp a super strong hand as a trap if the villain in the bb has been 3bet jam or jam over limp happy.

    Hope this helps.

    Good luck and good decisions,
