What is a 'straddle' in poker terms

  • #2
Straddle is when the person UTG (right after the big blind) doubles the big blind before knowing what his 2 cards are, you can have double and triple straddles (need to be the next person to act in order to put a straddle) and so on

It's meant to increase the main pot preflop to induce action on the next hand

Hi tkj123, Welcome to the PSO forum. This is where you can find poker terms definitions: Link Straddle - An optional extra blind bet, typically made by the player one to the left of the big blind, equal to twice the big blind. This is effectively a raise, and forces any player who wants to play to pay two bets. Furthermore, the straddler acts last before the flop, and may "re-raise." Good luck at the tables. umbup: Jocelyn
