  • Tips for playing at the tables

Im not sure if this forum deals with only online poker, but id like to try playing in a casino near me at the tables rather than online.

There is a weekly game with a low buy in near me, however I have only ever played online and am a bit nervous about actually playing poker at a table knowing that I probably rely on the online features such as automatically knowing how many chips each player has, how much the pot is, when i am big / small blind etc.

What advice can you give someone wanting to play at tables? I feel that maybe doing this would help improve my game by playing live rather than being sat behind the computer and it's something I have wanted to try for a while now but the casinos never seem to have any beginners games.

For knowing the blinds, there will be a dealer button on the table. Seat to left of it is the SB, 2 seats to the left is the BB.

For knowing how many chips.... you've got to keep track of that in your head and from what you can see and count (estimate quickly). Players are required to put thier larger chips in front, so they cannot be hidden.

There have been some previous threads on this. You can use the forum search to find them. If I see one, I'll put a link into this thread too.

Another tip: do not look at your cards until it's your turn to act and when you do look at them, cover them with your hands and only bend up a corner of the cards to see (shielding it from your opps)... do not take the cards off the table and have a card capper (item to put on your cards to show that they are still in play).

Another tip: do NOT show any opp any card of yours that they did not pay to see.
