Can anybody (I know most can) explain what is meant by 'bounties' and 'half kill'.

"Bounties" are just what they imply....A $ amount is put up, usually during a tournament, and is paid for knocking out a player or sometmes one particular player that is selected. For example..the tournamnet may be a $10 buy in, with $10 bounties, meaning that everytime you eliminate a player you recieve $10. Another way to do it, is a seat is preselected and whoever draws that seat has a $ amt. bounty placed on them and whoever knocks them out gets that amount.

"Half-Kill" is used, commonly in Omaha hi/lo and some places in hold-em games. In the Omaha hi/lo, anytime a player "scoops", that is wins the whole pot, and the pot is a certain pre-set minimum amount, the betting for the next hand increases by 50%. For example...playing 4/8 Omaha with 1/2 kill, if you scoop a pot of at least $40, then the next hand the betting goes to 6/12 for that hand only. The winner of the pot is required to post a $6 "kill" that is a live blind. This does not replace an exisiting blind, but can take the place of the BB or SB if the winner is due to post either of these. Depending on the rules of the cardroom, the action will either start off the "kill" or after the BB, but the person with the "kill" will have an option when it is their turn to act. In hold-em, it works basically the same way except, you get the kill for winning either two or three consecutive pots, whatever is predetermined.
    Hope this helps 8O
