  • VPP's & Bankroll

    Hi

    I will be active for next month only needing 0.4 VPP's to reach 20
    Hopefully I can finish in the money next month to use in May to get active
    I will have a limited bankroll of $6 next month
    I may be able to build it with a $5 donation , another player promised it if they finish in the top 50 this month

    My question's are :
    1 Is there a way to get my VPP's next month with this bankroll ?
    2 Can I do this without losing my bankroll ?
    Any help or guidance would be much appreciated

    Thx in advance

    I would suggest checking out the Bankroll Forum.

    From what I have seen, most players with a limited bankroll have stuck with the ring games. Depending on how well you do, these can be very fast vpps builders. Just remember, you do get vpps for folding a hand. You do not get them if you sit out the hand.

    If you are good at a one-table setup, you might consider the double or nothing games. The lowest price ones go for $1.11 and earn 0.61 vpps each. I've seen these games pay anywhere from $1.50 for fifth, to $3.00 for first. Good thing on these is you need only outlast five of the ten opponents.

    Now I am, by far, no authority on this topic. However, I do lay it all on the line in my monthly reports about my bankroll efforts. If you go active for April, you might consider waiting until the second half of the month before making a run at the active status for May. If you are so far out of the top thousand, you can save the money for the following month. Consider anything earned below the $15.00 level as a reduction to your current costs.

    Wishing you the best of luck.

      Have had about 50% success rate in the $1.08 50/50 S&G's
      Biggest win so far was $2.87

      Good thinking about going for active status in the middle of the month
      My last few months finishes have improved greatly :

      November = 1034
      December = 1033
      January = 323
      February = 515
      March = 691 at last update

      Prior to these finishes I was a laugh and a mile away from the top 1000
      Hopefully a good April finish will add to the bankroll to try for VPP's in May
      This could be the start of a snowball effect , fingers crossed

      Thanks for advice 'The Old Hedgehog'

        Yes indeed Spike, you can do it. I took the $3 I won my first month in the pso and turned it into 20 vpps the next month. Now I did struggle the third month and lost my meager bankroll. But I just didn't play tight enough like I did the first. I've heard someone say to fold everything...I don't agree. I think you should fold ALMOST everything. Play very tight, very good position, very smart poker and you will see that in a cash game of 1/2 cent or 2/5 cent, you will get your vpps and maybe even make a couple bucks along the way. umbup:

          Thanks Dan Was playing in 1c/2c NLHE , hoping to hit a milestone hand......................... Oh how God loves a tryer................ I have built my VPP's doing this and playing the $1 turbo/non-turbo fifty50's............ I don't think a step up to 2/5 cent cash games I would feel comfortable with yet....... I also made a 74 cent gain in the $1 3k gtd by coming in 420th ish out of 4500 field............ Which I believe is somewhere round 10% of those who entered............. As I have my active status for next month no more cash games for me As the old hedge intimated , see what my ranking is in thr middle of the month and if there is a chance to be in the money come the end of the month , then start playing cash games to be active for the following month Thanks spike.........
