  • how often should I play to get significantly better??

I have 2-4 hours to play on my laptop most of the day, and I know other players put 3 times as much times as much and maybe more, what should I study so that I may be able to keep up with other players and be ahead than most - "optimistically saying?"

TWO hours of study and review for every 1 hour of play and if you're a beginner, it should even be a higher ratio. Hand reviews need to be a big part of it, also watching training videos/pro twitch streams, reading poker strategy books.
If you want to get better, it's about studying, not playing.
