  • When to move up

How do you know that you are ready to compete with the pros as a beginner because so far, i start so well and end up losing my huge stack before the money bubble even arrive, each time i try to invest my freeroll winnings by buy in into tournaments?

First.. forget thinking about playing against a knowledgeable player until you learn all the basics and can apply all of them in-game. If you are getting larger stacks early, then losing it way before the bubble.. the most common reason, is that you are playing way, way too many hands. Most winning players play about 20% of hands, so 8 out of every 10 hands are folded preflop.

When playing tournaments, you need to follow bankroll management too, which means you need to have at least 100 buy-ins for any level of game that you are playing. If you do not have this much, then you will continually be broke, whenever a variance run hits.

The time to move up is when you are beating the current level consistently. With enough of a custion to take the losses that may come at the new level..

I will almost never play higher limits if I don't feel ready for the next step . If I have earnings enough and if I find a game that I find weak/weaker than me players , I will try it . 100buyins for the next level , I cant wait , I play satellites sngs or sat tourneys for the tournaments with my profits from lower buyin games . . Whenever I was on tilt and very mad , I played higher limits cash games or destroed my bankroll on the casino hehe , tilt and bad mood very bad advisors .
