                    Brilliant!

You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                    Step Two

The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player.
Now study the Cash Game course and once you think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Think my bettng was way off on this hand. My opponent liked to play a lot of hands but rarely called a raise unless he had a strong pair. I was lucky enough to hit a 10. so I bet 2bb think this should have been a bit more like 3-4bb he calls other guy folds. I then bet 4bb think this should have been 5-6bb he calls river is a 3 which put a possible straight on the board but I put his hand on a high pair so I wasn't to worried. I then bet 15bb which now I think was way too much to get a call, I belive that this bet made him think I had hit the straight he folds I win the pot. my question is how should I have played this hand to get the best return for my set, how should I have bet?

Hi glowhawk666! Thanks for posting your thoughts in this hand. It really helps me do my job. umbup: You are right, we want to focus on betsizing. Opening preflop with 1010 is great. When the villain calls, I think we need to give him a wider range than just big pairs. His range will probably include some speculative hands and Ax hands as well as the big pairs. You flop top set. The board offers a flush draw and a possible low end straight draw, but is actually pretty dry. However, we are facing two opponents. Our goal is to build the pot with such a strong hand. We could check if we expected Villain 9 to raise. Here though, I prefer to cbet. You can get called by overpairs if that is what you put V9 on, overcards that don't believe you as well as flush draws. A standard cbet would be half the pot, or a bit more on a wet board. So, since there is 19c in the pot, bet 10c -14c on the flop. Again on the turn, bet at least half the pot. This is the most important spot for gaining value. If the villain has AK, AQ or two spades, we want to bet now while they still hope to improve on the river. They won't put more money in the pot on all the missed rivers. Moreover, betting small gives chasers good odds to chase. I suggest betting at least 15c but preferably closer to 20c. No overcards or flush draws came on the river. It is unlikely the villain was chasing a straight. So, the river probably did not help him. A smaller bet would be easier for the villain to call here. I would make it half the pot. GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX
