Hi, I have passed the quiz, what should I do now?

        • #5
Well done Bakait7! You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player. Now study the Cash Game course and once you think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! flophitter umbup: Team PokerSchoolOnline

Great job Bakait7! You passed the Cash Game Quiz and so you've shown that you have a great understanding of the fundamentals of playing poker. We have now credited your account with your 2nd bonus. Step Three Please play a 1/2 cent Real Money table at PokerStars and, using the Hand Replayer, post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about. Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer. NB: You must post a Cash Game hand only, tournament hands do not count for this promotion. You must use the Hand Replayer only to post your hand, we cannot accept hands posted in any other way. Once you post your hand one of our Trainers will analyse it for you so please post an interesting hand where you have questions. Give as much information about the hand as possible, for example, had you any reads on your opponents? flophitter umbup: Team PokerSchoolOnline

Hi Bakait7, Thank you for posting this hand for review (the second hand is not from a cash table and so will not be analysed here, but you are welcome to post it in the appropriate forum section for that type) and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you. He will do this normally within the next 24 hours (but can sometimes take a little longer, especially at weekends) and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step. flophitter umbup: Team PokerSchoolOnline

                      Hi Bakait7,

I'll take a look at the cash game hand (A4s) that you posted.

I think making the call preflop is OK because you are hoping to see a relatively cheap flop with many players. However you should do this on the understanding that if you flop top pair, your hand is likely not going to be best. You should be very cautious with many players in the hand and only be looking to continue with flush draws, flushes, two pair and trips.

The flop is quite interesting, as you have flopped a monster draw, the nut flush draw and the wheel straight draw. I think either calling or raising for value are both fine plays. You likely have at least 12 outs to the best hand here (15 if your A also gives you the best hand).

To calculate your chances of hitting your outs, you can roughly work this out using the "Rule of 4 and 2". Multiply your outs by 4 if, on the flop, you want to work out your percentage chance of making your hand by the river. If you only want to look one street ahead (flop->turn or turn->river), multiply by 2.

So you have 12 outs, multiply by 4 gives you an approximate 48% chance of making your flush or straight by the river.

Therefore I probably prefer to raise here. A normal raise size would be to about 3x his bet, or $0.36. However as this is bigger than 1/3 of your stack, I would just move all in. This has many advantages. You might get him to fold better hands like weak Kx or pocket pairs like 99/TT. You might also get him to call with worse hands like worse flush draws or straight draws. Even if he only called with a set, you still have a 33% chance of winning the hand, which isn't terrible.

However calling is also fine and you hit your flush on the turn! There are no real scary river cards for you, so I like your decision to make a smallish bet, to try and keep both players enticed in the hand.

However on the river you should just move all in. You have barely a half-pot sized bet left behind, whether you bet $0.31 or $0.55 is going to make no difference as to whether he will call or not, so when he does call, you're just missing out on $0.24 of value. Missing out on free money like this will make a big difference to your winrate in the long run.

Well played and good luck with your Bankroll Builder challenge!
