          Brilliant!

You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

          Step Two

The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player.

Now study the Cash Game course and once you think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in.

          Best of Luck!

                Hi again,

Here is a hand of me that made me get some good pot.

                [replay hand_id=638057 type=ps title_id=2 showControls=1 themePath=table_PS_560x386.jpg lang=en gameEntity=0 hash=610BD7E4CA]

But I think I've got some wrong moves here. Probably luck made me win this one.

When I saw that, I got top pair and K kicker, I raised. When 5 came at turn, I just bet which I'm not sure if it's the right move.

Then he raised like he has very strong hand but what could it be? Flush and straight chance was low for him. Only he could've AA which I didn't give a chance. So I returned to his raises.

River was complicated for me, I think it has many combinations that could beat my hand but I called all which still I think I made wrong.

                You'll do the real analysis

                Thanks in advance

                    Hi Rkn3,

There are a couple very important issues to take from this hand. Firstly, any time you are the first player to enter the pot preflop, always do so with a raise - regardless your cards! Raising gives you two ways to win. First everyone may fold. Second, you may flop a winning hand. Also, if you always raise, opponents will not know if you have AA or A2o as in this hand. By limping your weak hands and raising your strong hands, good players will be able to take advantage of you. A standard 3bb raise is usually best.

Now A2o is too weak to open with from early position. I strong suggest folding preflop in this hand. You want to fold all weak aces from this positon. I would want A10s or better to open here. However, if you are going to play this hand, you should raise for the reasons above. Plus, A2o plays best against a single oppoent because we will normally only have top pair.

As played, you get one more limper. And flop top pair. You wrote that you had "top kicker" because there is a K on the board. This is incorrect! On the flop your hand is AAK62. An opponent with an ace would have AAK6x where x is his kicker. Any kicker better than your 2 is going to give him the winning hand since the rest of the cards are equal. You are at best tied against another A2, but behind any other ace hand. This is the type of situation where we can lose a big pot because of our weak kicker. This is also the reason why we don't want to play weak aces from early position. We share the cards on the board.

Understanding how your kicker functions is an extremely important, fundamental concept of poker. Be sure you understand it! Let's use one more example, let's say you are holding 22 and the villain A is holding 33 and villain B is holding KQ. The flop comes 2AA giving you a full house (222AA) and the best hand. The turn is another A. Now your hand is AAA22 because the aces are better than your set of twos. Now villain A would have the best hand with AAA33. The river is the fourth A. The board now shows 2AAAA. All three players have Qaud aces. You have a 2 kicker for the fifth card. Villain A has a 3 kicker, and Villain B has a K kicker winning the hand. If you are unsure, mention it in your next post and I will try to explain it better.

GL and have fun at the tables!

Thank you so much Roland GTX,

I got whats the kicker now and I'll read some basic course materials again to understand it completely.

Also, I'll be careful about raising if I'm the first one who enters to pot. Thanks for your suggestions, I learned much from this.
