Ok, so I am done. Here is the link to a particularly unlucky hand: Ya, fair enough, I probably shouldn't play that hand so early, but a head start in the tournament would've been nice. It also does not help that if I would have seen his hand, I would still have bet the same way, as my cards had a better win chance pre-flop than his. Oh well. I did that quiz as soon as I registered on this website. Also took a quick a look around and tried some other ones too. I hope that doesnt mess up the bonus. Whats next?

Hi Doxycycline! This promotion is only for FULL ring cash games. Tournaments have totally different strategies and different tourney types even have their own strategies. For example, a league is totally different from an MTT and both are different from a satellite. Once you receive your first bonus from this promotion, playing anything other than 2NL FULL RING will make you ineligible for all future bonuses in this promotion. With KQs, if this were a ring game, with a limper in front of me, I will make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper (160). With this being a tourney, I'm going to muck it preflop. When playing a tourney, I need to be extremely patient in the early stages of it. I do not want to take unnecessary chances to try to build a stack early be playing too many hands. When there is a re-raise, regardless of it being a tourney or ring game, I need to muck. I do not want to be taking chances and putting my chips into the pot in situations where I'm most likely behind (I'm behind any A or pair here). I only want to be putting my chips in when I'm most likely ahead. In a tourney I would need a made hand to shove with (QQ, KK, AA). In a ring game, I could call or shove with QQ, KK, AA or AK or maybe JJ. Any lesser hand is too weak and needs to be folded. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

                Thank you for the advice.

Just to clarify, I am not allowed to play in the freeroller tournaments if I want to be in the promotion?

You can play in freerolls, but not in any cash tournament.

                    Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                    Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                    1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
                    2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
                    3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

                    Best of Luck!

ok done. Here is the hand: I believe I played it correctly, but I did lose. the questions... Big Bet: 1. put pressure on opponents 2. bluff people into folding decent hands 3. gain value for strong hands And I did the quiz.

                          Hi,

You answered a question for the Bankroll Builder Challenge - "List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?"

These reasons are very applicable to how you could have played this hand better.

I like the preflop raise, you have a fairly strong hand and should be getting value for it.

On the flop, I don't like the minbet. You have a really strong draw and two overcards. All three reasons you gave for your answer apply to why you should bet big in this spot. I'd bet something like $0.10-$0.13 and put a lot of pressure on the opponent's short stack.

Betting small like you did means your opponent is basically never going to fold and you are allowing worse hands to catch up to you.

The same reasoning applies on the turn. You don't have to be scared of your opponent holding a 5 just yet.

On the river I think you did the correct thing in giving up.

If you would have fired a strong bet on the flop and turn, your opponent would very likely have folded AJ, possibly on the flop but almost certainly by the turn, which would have been a great result.

As I understand it VPPs are reset every year. I have made a little over 2 of them today, and will probably make more, but if I do not hit 10 by tomorrow, does that mean I have to start again or are you able to add this years points to next year for the purposes of this promotion?
