You got a bit unlucky here, but I think there were a couple of different things you could have done this hand.

I like the preflop raise and the flop raise - great sizing on both plays.

When the villain 3Bets you, you have to decide right now if you think your hand is strong enough to go all in with, or if you think he's only doing this with hands that beat yours e.g. 44,77,JJ.

If you are willing to go all in with it, just go all in immediately. Villain has signalled that he likes his hand and will likely call. If you think your hand is beat, just fold here as you are probably going to have to fold on the turn anyway.

I think your hand is strong enough because villain will show up mainly with Jx or flush draws here, so I would just go all in.

As played you bet not quite all in. I see no reason not to just go all in here, you have less than a pot sized bet so it is just a waste of time messing around with smaller bets. If he is on a flush draw, you might actually lose value if he calls, misses the river and just folds to your all in.

                  Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                  Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                  1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
                  2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
                  3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

                  Best of Luck!

Hi atty2! Preflop I strongly suggest sticking to the standard 3bb raise from late position. Raising more tends to get you value owned since only stronger hands will call you. Postflop, you get a set on a fairly wet board with flush draws, possible straight draws and the A and K. Enough players will pay you off with top pair, two pair and flush draw hands that getting all in is the right move. Don't worry about the result. Set over set happens, but not that often. Note, it is hard to put the villain on AA since he didn't raise preflop and could be calling from the bb with any two cards. Secondly, when you have a 100bb stack or shorter, getting all in with bottom set is going to be profitable in the long run on a board like this. Had the flop made a flush or straight likely, then we should be careful. here only draws are possible on the flop. If you have a deep stack (200bb for example), then we need to protect our stack and should again be careful with bottom set. As it stands, this was a good spot to get it all in. GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX
