This was the first hand dealt to me after I sat down, and it was an interesting hand. I was dealt pocket 3s, I checked my 3s at BB, my thinking behind the check was that pocket 3s isn't a strong hand to begin with, I didn't want to be pot committed because obviously the flop was going to be over cards and I was out of position, therefore I was really in hope of hitting the set, if not I was going to check and fold to any bet. And the flop came and I hit my set, with 2 spades on the board, I bet the pot, because I want to avoid anyone chasing for flush, and if they still do, I wanted to charge them for chasing. I got callers behind me. The turn came a 2, that made me a full house, I checked my full house as the first to act, I wanted the callers behind me to bet to bluff, or if they all check, I wanted to give them a chance to see a free card, and if any of the callers where chasing for flush, if they made their flush on the river, I can simply wipe them out. The river came, not a spade, so I figured that the callers behind me would not bluff because if they wanted to they would have done so when the 2 showed up on the board, they could have pretended like they hit the set, so I bet 40 into the pot of 50 on the river, I did not bet half of the pot or the entire amount of the pot, I was trying to give them a sense that I was bluffing, and it worked, I got a caller. These are my entire thinking process. Did I played it right? Thank you.

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.

He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

          Cheers.

            Hi iluvwecan!

The first thing that I see with this hand is even before it starts. Whenever sitting at a ring table, I always wait for the BB to start playing. Paying extra blinds over and over to start playing immediately is a huge drain to a player's bankroll.

With 2 limpers in front of me (yes, the post counts as a limp), I'm going to check and hope to hit a set. However, if the opp in front of me didn't limp, I'd have made a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper.

I flop a set and when it checks to me, I need to make a standard value bet. Bets postflop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 4 or more opps, I need to make a pot-sized bet, so I will bet 12. I want to keep all of my bets and raises standard as it helps to conceal the strength of my hand. Players that bet more with better hands and less with marginal ones are basically turning their cards face-up to an observant opponent... something that I need to avoid.

            ------------------
The hand in the replayer ends here. Please repost the full hand so that I can help with the rest of it.
