A few hands So I always wonder how to act with a relatively strong hand against a loose table. Did I make the correct moves here? Without action post flop, i would've bluffed with a big bet, bad idea? If you have time, I've got a second one: Very loose table here too, villains often shoving with marginal hands; I ended up calling all in with my first acceptable hand in a while. Here I got scandalously lucky, but is it viable on the long run?

Hi MrBlublub! With AJo in the cutoff, I get three limpers in front of me. I'm going to make a standard raise, which is to 3BB+1BB for each limper (120). I want to keep all of my bets and raises standard because it helps to conceal the strength of my hand. Players that make abnormally large or small bets, especially based on hand strength are basically turning their cards face-up to their opponents.... something that I need to avoid. I then get min-raised and with multiple opps in the pot, I will call this bet and see the flop. I see a 5-way flop that totally misses me and get an abnormally small bet of 700 by an opp in front of me. I need to fold here to this bet since I have nothing. Bets postflop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 4 or more opps in the pot, a standard bet is a pot-sized bet. ------------- With AQs, I get a limp, shove and call in front of me. When calling two shoves, I normally like to have a premium made hand (QQ+). However, if both of the players are maniacs, I can lower my hand standards some here and AQs would be at the bottom of the range of hands that I'd be willing to call with. Note that I will only call here IF both opps are total maniacs that are shoving every hand and even then, it's a risky play without a premium pocket pair. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Brilliant! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck!

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? I'd say: to grow a big pot (if I have a strong hand) to protect against draws to bluff someone out of a good hand. A few hands: With KK in early position, it turned out allright, but is there a way to extract more efficiently with such a hand? This one I played terribly (i'm still thinking way too slowly). In retrospect I should have just limped into the pot if possible, and I should have called with my draw (8 outs = 30% chance to get a straight on the river, so I had good odds). Is my reasoning correct here? Btw I passed the cash game quizz =)

Hi, Hand Analysis I would have elected to re-raise 3x the villains raise sizing +additional villains that tagged along...a sizing of about 22c would be a sufficient amount. this will help to ensure value is made when called and will help build the pot so that we can set up proper value bet sizings of 2/3 to 3/4 pot post flop. If we get re-raised by villain3, depending on their sizing, we can go all in or re-raise 2.5x to induce them to get their stack in. Hand Analysis As a good rule of thumb I would only be isolating limpers with the top of my starting hand range at this limit. Even though this is an implied odds hand that will play decent in a multiway pot, I'd prefer folding this hand even though we could potentially buy the button. There are just to many boards that we'll have to play fit or fold (flop equity to a straight draw, flush draw, two pairs etc..) to really feel comfortable calling any bets. Hope this helps. Kind regards, CannonLee
