In this hand I try to do my opponents fold their hands, because I was in the bottom and they were showing weakness. I did it right or should I be more careful in doing that? Thank you for all (:

            Hi Cardozoluc!

With A7o on the button, I get 4 limpers in front of me. I'm going to make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper (70 chips). I want to keep all of my bets and raises standard as this helps to conceal the strength of my hand. Players that bet more with better hands and less with marginal ones are basically turning their cards face up to an observant opponent.. something that I want to avoid.

The flop gives me a gutshot draw and there is a min-bet and everyone calls. I'm not ahead here, so I don't want to raise. To call, I need to put 10 chips into a pot of 280 (3.6%). From the rule of 4 and 2, my four outs to the straight are worth 8% equity, so since my hand equity is higher than my pot equity, I'll call.
If I did raise, I would need to make a standard raise and for 4 or more opps in the pot, this would be a pot-sized raise. I cannot raise to less if I do raise as I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me. If I give them the correct odds and they do end up outdrawing me, it's my own fault that I lose the hand.

The turn still leaves me with ace high and when it checks to me, I absolutely need to check and hope for an 8 on the river. If I bet, with 3 opps, I need to bet 3/4 pot.. BUT.. this is over 1/3 of my remaining chips, which means that I'm pot-committed and have to shove. I do not want to shove against multiple opponents when I have absolutely nothing.

The river gives me top pair and when it checks to me, here, I will make a standard bet and with one opp left in the pot, I will bet 1/2 pot.

The keys here are to make standard bets and raises, as making non-standard ones are a tell for a player's hand strength.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Excellent! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! umbup:

I've already watched the video and passed the quiz. The answer of the question is: -To put a lot of pressure on opponents; -To bluff people off decent hands; -To gain value from very strong hands; These are the three reasons to bet big. and this is my hand played, I think I had a good game and my rivals didn't have anything. I wanna know if I'm betting right? Than you for all (:

Hi, Hand Analysis A good rule of thumb when electing to bet is to make a sizing of 2/3 to 3/4 pot size, this will help to ensure value is made and a pot is built to set up the stack to pot ratio...now generally we should be doing this with strong starting hands...and this hand doesn't really qualify as that..it's mediocre at best meaning that there are several other two card flush combos that may have us beat and it's almost a guarantee that most board textures will present atleast one over card. Now for our post flop line, we have the itiative in the pot and this is the ultimate scary flop for a loose flatting range pre-flop, our best bet is to make a sizing of 2/3 pot size, anything less than this will get action from Kx 8x Qx Jx Tx etc...which is fine but there are going to be many turn cards that hurt our course of action and likely the villain as well. Hope this helps. Kind regards, CannonLee
