Hi there. I'm glad you replied in such a swift manner. Watched both videos, and here's a hand that's been troubling me: I got a very strong hand at the beginning, but only called on the flop. The result is that at the end anyone with a heart could have won easily against my hand. What was the right thing to do? Big raise on the pre-flop or the thing I did? As for the quiz, I read all the lessons, and passed the test immediately afterwards. That helped a lot. Looking forward to the next assignments.

Hi Kosancic! With AQs in the BB, I get 5 limpers in front of me. I'm going to make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper, so I will raise to 8BB or 80 chips. I want to keep all of my bets and raises standard, as this helps to conceal the strength of my hand. Players that bet more with better hands and less with worse ones are basically turning their cards face-up to an observant opponent.. something that I want to avoid. With stronger hands, when I'm out of position, I do not want to check or call too. Being out of position is a huge disadvantage preflop and I need to raise to try to get some of the opps to fold as the more opps in the hand, the harder it will be for me to play. I totally miss the flop and when it checks to me, I'm going to check and hope to see a free turn card. An opp now bets 10 and I need to see if I have the odds to call. I need to call 10 into a pot that will be 100 (10%). From the rule of 4 and 2, I have 6 outs to make a pair, but two of those are hearts that may give someone else a flush, so I may only have 4 outs. My 4 outs are worth 2% equity each, so my hand is only worth 8%. Since my hand is worth less than my pot equity, I'm folding AQ here. If I saw the river (which I would not), when the opp bets, there is no way that I can call, as I have absolutely nothing. I want to be putting my chips into the pot when I'm ahead, not when I basically have no chance to win at all. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Wow, that's a very thorough answer. I see now that I still have a long way to go to be at the level where you are now.

This was more than helpful, and made me realize that I would have to count the pot equity as well as my hand equity. You need to be a quick thinker and have lots of experience.

Hope you can recommend some courses that will bring me a step closer to reasonable and optimal game. Thanks a lot.

Excellent! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! umbup:

Hi there guys. Watched the video, it was very helpful. As for the question concerning that video, here's the answer: Three reasons to make a big bet are:
                  1. 1 To put a lot of pressure on opponents
                  2. 2 To gain value from very strong hands
                  3. 3 To protect against strong draws
(I didn't put bluff in there, cause I think I still don't have the skills to bluff anyone. ) I've also passed the quiz with flying colors. And about the hand, here's one that's been on my mind: I was in the Big Blind position, and a guy raised in the EP. I watched couple of his previous hands and he played tight and aggressive game. So, I knew he had cards that he likes, but, since everyone else folded, I had a perfect position to make a call. I thought: "This is not a lot of money to see the flop, a standard raise of 3BB, while everyone else folded. And I had to give 2BB more to see the flop". I just checked on the flop, hoping for a free card on a turn. Surprisingly, he checked too. So I knew I had a chance. A Q comes out on a turn giving me a top pair. I checked, and he raised, normally I called him. The river made clear there was no chance for a flush, and he didn't have a straight, cause he would have raised otherwise. My question is: Was I supposed to play it more aggressively after the turn and a Q, and increase the pot, or was just calling and checking the right option? I felt that I could have made the pot two, or even three times bigger than it was at the end of this hand. What's your opinion on this one? Apologies for the long explanation. Looking forward to the next assignments. o/

                      Hi Kosancic,

I will be your Hand Analyzer for this post

Preflop I think its a marginal call. You make good arguments for making the call but sometimes against strong tight and aggressive opponents we will have trouble playing our hand when we are out of position.

with that said, I am x/f flop. When they check back though I would go ahead and bet the turn myself for value against hands that have SD value and not give a free card.

                              Hi there.

I've got a question for you. I've got PSO Skill League tournament ticket, and just yesterday I have passed MTT quiz and got a tournament invitation for that one as well. I want to know if entering any of these two tournaments will affect my bankroll builder promotion, cause there was this statement that I can only play NLHE poker 0.01/0.02$. I already have 8.89 FPP, so I wouldn't want to be busted out of Bankroll builder promotion when I'm so close to finishing the third step.

                              Thanks in advance.
