Hi PrettyPinkle! The first thing that I see here is even before the hand starts. Whenever sitting at a ring table, I always wait for the BB to start playing. Paying extra blinds over and over to start immediately playing will be a huge drain to a player's bankroll. With AKo, I get four limpers in front of me (the posts count as limps). I'm going to make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper. With 4 limps, I will raise to 7BB or 14 chips. I want to keep all of my bets and raises standard as this helps to conceal the strength of my hand. Players that bet more or less based on how strong their hand is are basically turning their cards face-up to an observant opponent.. something that I want to avoid. I then get two shoves and a call. While AK is a hand with potential, it is not a made hand (still only ace high) and plays much worse in multi-way pots. Due to this, I need to muck and wait for a better situation. Even if all three are total maniacs that would shove every single hand, AK is going to be the favorite to lose here and will lose 60% of the time. The key with this hand is patience and to wait for a spot where I'm the favorite to win the hand, not when I'm a favorite to lose. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

                Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
                2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
                3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

                Best of Luck!

Hand Reply Wondering if this was the correct way to play this hand. It obviously paid off but will it usually?

                    Reasons to big bet:
                    To apply pressure
To bluff players into folding decent hands
To gain value on strong hands
To isolate and reduce strong draws

Hi PrettyPinkle, I like it! umbup: I think preflop we can go both ways, either over-limp (although I don't advocating limping and over-limping into pots, but this one is a good spot for it) and look to set mine cheaply or raise and look to take down the pot OTF with a cbet since we will only hit a set 1 in 9 times. When the villian donk bet the flops, they take away the cbet from us but his bet sizing and action looks very weak and given we can represent a Kx hand with our preflop raise we can raise their bet OTF and expect to get folds a good amount of the time.
