Here's a hand I got questions about. How should I have played it? I think I could've won if I made it to the showdown. Did I play it correctly or should I have tried to at least make it to the turn? Thanks. I've already watched the video as well and have passed the quiz already.

Hi, Hand Analysis I noticed that you posted the big blind out of turn, in the future please avoid doing this as it will add up and quite possibly put a dent in your long term profit. This isn't really a hand we want to be playing from this position, there are six other players left behind us to act..which increases the liklihood of a better range of Ax being present A7 A8 A9 AT AJ AQ AK all have us outkicked. When villain6, villain9 and villain1 re-open the action I'd be keen to just fold this hand, versus a 4x isolation raise and perceived tight 3bet and 4bet/5bet range our hand is rarely going to be ahead of most of their strong value hands AK AQ AA KK QQ JJ TT is most likely the range of holdings they may have. Very good disciplined fold given our pot odds of roughly 2 to 1 before the action was re-opened, I see a lot in store for you in the long run. Hope this helps. Kind regards, CannonLee

I see. Great. I'll be sure to do that in real money cash games when I get my first reward. Thanks. ^^

Excellent! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! umbup:

I was on the late position in this hand. I was wondering if it was possible for me to pull off a bluff and win the pot. Hmm. Players make big bets to put a lot of pressure on opponents, gain value from very strong hands or, protect their hands against strong draws. (And sometimes, to make opponents fold their decent hands.) I passed the quiz. I have finished all three tasks.

Hi yoj315! Folding is absolutely the best move here for several reasons. Firstly, one of the major weaknesses of 2NL players is that they don't know when to fold. They go to the river with too many hands. Therefore, it is best to never bluff (especially preflop) at 2NL. We can take advantage of this weakness by value betting every chance we get with our strong hands such as a set or better with a good expectation of getting paid. Secondly, it is good that you noticed that you have position which is good and a open limper which looks rather weak. Good job picking up on these points. However, as I said above, a pure bluff is rarely a good idea. Even when we bluff we should have some potential with our hand, a back up plan in case we get called. For example, you might raise to isolate the limper with 89s or KJo. This is actually a semi-bluff since these hands do have flopping potential. Raising attempts to isolate the limper allowing you to outplay him post flop if called. For the time being I would not do this though. Focus on betting/raising your strong hands and folding your marginal hands until you gain more experience. Good foldumbup: Roland GTX
