pocket pair middle position Thank you kindly hokypokytoo, I've watched the video and passed the basic course, here's some action from a very loose table i'm holding 99 with 1 limper and make a small raise and get 3 callers....i think i'm facing overcard combinations and ace littles....flop comes connected and suited but i have an overpair and 2 checks to me, well i'd guess i better find out where those pesky draws are and make a probe bet and get 2 callers.......turn is a 4th straight card and 2 checks to me i decide to avoid any check-raise situations and control the pot size by checking.....river is a brick and 2 checks to me (is one of these guys slowplaying A5 suited ???) so i take a stab at this pot and get a mild surprise

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.
He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

          Cheers.

Hi UncleSpliff! With 99 and 1 limper in front of me, I'm going to make a standard raise, which is to 3BB+1BB for each limper. With 1 limp, I will raise to 400. I want to keep all of my bets standard, as this helps to conceal the strength of my hand. Players that bet more with better hands and less with marginal ones are basically turning their cards face-up to an observant opponent. Also, I do not want to raise to less than this or I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me and if I do so and lose the hand, it's my own fault that I lose. I flop an overpair on a very wet board. When it's checked to me, I'm going to make a c-bet since I raised preflop. Postflop bets need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 3 opps, a standard bet is 3/4 pot and I cannot bet less than this, so I will bet 938. By betting less, any opp that has a higher heart gets the right odds to draw.. a HUGE problem. The turn gives 5x or T9 a straight and when it checks to me, I'm going to check behind here for pot control. The river should be a blank and when it checks to me, I have two choices. I can either check behind and go to showdown (what I will do the overwhelming majority of the time) or I can make a value bet. With 2 opps in the pot, I need to bet 2/3 pot (1633).. however, this would be over 1/3 of my remaining stack, which means that I'm pot committed and cannot ever fold. Due to this, I'd need to shove if I bet... which is why I prefer to check. The keys to this hand are to make standard bets. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Excellent! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! umbup:

                bet sizing

                Hi John

I'm concentrating on correcting my bet sizing in order to deny opps correct odds on draws....I have adjusted my hotkey settings and it feels so aggressive, much better.

I'm surprised that I wasn't check raised at the end, perhaps they feared a small flush

I'm trying to keep in mind that the correct plays in NL consist of sizing bets to induce mistakes that, even if you are drawn out on, it was theoretically incorrect for your opps to call and that over the long run these plays are profitable.

Can you explain the icons found left of the hand ID in the hand analyzer

                thanks in advance

Honestly, I've never looked at them and am not sure what they're for... I've used the replayer a ton of times and they're basically irrelevant.
