Hi DJTGrind! Preflop looks good and your betsize was perfect. Getting a string of callers is not great, but this won't happen as often once you get to real money tables. Making a nearly pot sized bet on the flop is perfect too. Well doneumbup: This gains you value for your strong hand AND protects your hand by making others pay to outdraw you. On the turn there is 138 in the pot and the villain leads out with a 2 chip minbet. This is most often a weak blocking bet. His bet size is insignificant compared to the pot. We want to raise as you did, but rather than sizing your raise with respect to his 2 chip bet, I strongly suggest sizing your raise with respect to the pot. Had he checked to you, I would suggest raising between 50% and 100% of the pot. Personally, I would make it 99 (it seems much smaller than 100+ raises). As on the flop, we want to raise both for value and to protect our hand. The second J on the turn is a bit scary, but these small bets do not help clarify the situation, nor do they improve our situation. On the river, checking down is safe. I also wouldn't mind a smaller one third pot bet. We will get called by enough hands that we are beating to make this profitable even though we will sometimes run into a AJ or random straight here. Nice hand! GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX

                Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
                2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
                3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

                Best of Luck!

The easiest way to do this is to adjust the Holdem Filter in the Pokerstars lobby to only show tables with 8 players. That way when you sit down the table will be filled up. That is what I do With A6o, I actually just fold this hand preflop. It seems cheap to call, but we will have a tough time postflop. Ask yourself what are you hoping to flop? You wont get a flush or a straight draw. A 6 on the flop will rarely be top pair. If you flop an A, you typically either win a small pot (everyone folds) or lose a big one to another A with a better kicker. As played, you actually got a good flop. I think you played the hand fine betting the flop and turn for value. A read on the villain would help us put him on a range of hands. It would also help us determine if he will pay us off with 3 streets of value with hands we are beating. I may have considered checking the river and calling a bet from the villain. Checking rather than leading out will keep his range wide and might enduce a bluff with Ax hands. As played, when the villain raises your river bet, it is almost always for value. This could be a slowplayed set or a better two pair. However, it could also be AK, AQ being overplayed plus some random hands. I think you are priced in to call since you have so little behind compared to the pot. Don't stress your postflop play here. But, remember to always ask yourself what you are hoping to flop before entering a hand. GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX

                        Reasons

to put a lot of pressure on opponents
to bluff people off decent hands
to gain value from strong hands
