Bankroll Builder Hand Replay Hi, I was dealt A-7. On the flop there was a 7 dealt, hence still having another A in my hands I decided it was worth it to call. Before the turn was dealt, a guy came and pressured the table with a very big bet. Looking at the scenario, although I had a 7 pair, I would lose as long as anyone had one of the other 2 cards as pairs or a above > 7 pair as their hole cards. I felt it wasn't a good chance to take considering the abnormally big bet and folded. The table dealt A for the turn and dealt A again for the river. I would have won with full house AAA77. Was mine a good fold or should I have called? Thank you very much.

Hi Warsarbi! With A7 from UTG, I need to immediately fold this. If I played it, I would need to make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper and this hand is nowhere near strong enough to raise with from early position and I do not ever want to open-limp as this is a huge chip leak. From UTG, I only want to be playing premium hands. The only non-pairs that I'll play from here are AKs, AKo and possibly AQs.. that's it. Any other ace is too weak for this position at the table. Just because I have an ace or suited cards does not mean that the hand is playable. If I saw the flop (which I would not), when I see that I hit bottom pair with 4 opps and the first opp makes a large overbet (a standard bet is based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture and here would be a pot-sized bet), I absolutely need to fold. I do not have the odds to be in this hand and due to that, I need to muck. Calling bets when I'm most likely behind is just giving chips to the opponents. I work hard to get the chips that I have and I do not want to just give them away. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

                Thanks but some question

                Thanks JWK24 and flophitter,

JWK24, may I ask what does "make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper" mean? I understand BB stand for bigbet/bigblind and limper means the first player that calls a bet. But I have trouble understanding what it means in a sentence like this.

flophitter, I'm still trying for the quiz. Have already tried 5 times after every 6 hours interval but I keep getting score like 67% and 69%, and I have no way of knowing which are the questions that I got wrong.

                Cheers.

Hi Warsarbi I think I can answer these for you. "Make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper" means that if no-one has limped (matched the big blind by calling) then you would raise 3 times the big blind. For every limper you add another BB to the raise, making 4 times the big blind. I hope that's clear now. There's a reason we don't give feedback on which quiz questions you didn't get right, it's to prevent members using that information to take the quiz repeatedly until they pass. But if you can absorb the information we give you in the courses, you should be able to pass the quizzes. Good luck! flophitter umbup:

Brilliant! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! flophitter umbup:
