Hi r91180 You won't find too many of these all in every hand maniacs at real money tables. Here I would recommend folding 99 though for two reasons. Firstly, you are not last to act. More players may join the action with better hands than yours or at least overcards to yours. This reduces your chances of winning. Secondly, assuming the villain really is shoving every hand, and you are ahead. You are still risking your whole stack. This is a big risk, especially if you had real money on the table. There are so many clearly +ev spots both at play money and 2NL, that I normally avoid these high risk situations and wait until I have a strong made hand post flop (a set or better) before risking my whole stack. So, I would fold here. Although odds wize, you are correct that your 99 will be profitable against a truly random hand in the long run. GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX

Cash Game 1) I feel that in this hand I had the best hand and got unlucky, at the same time I should have realized that the flop was very wet and not called the big reraise even though I felt I had the best had, there was a lot of draws plus maybe I could have already been beat. 2) To protect against strong draws. To gain value from very strong hands. To bluff people off decent hands. 3) I have been studying the cash game and passed the quiz with 83%.

Hi r91180! I'll analyse the hand in post #8. First of all, it looks like you posted your big blind out of turn. Don't do this. Since you'll be dealt an unplayable hand more than 80% of the time, you'll be throwing away 2c four times out of five. This money will add up over time and drain your bankroll. When you first join a table, click the "Wait until big blind before posting" option. There are several useful settings in the software for things like this, and I've listed them in my blog. As played, you have junk, but you're fortunate that there's just one more limper, so you see a 3-handed flop. In multiway pots, the winning hand is usually very strong, as it needs to beat multiple players. Also bear in mind that in a limped pot, you shouldn't get a lot of money in the pot without a hand that is close to the nuts. Typically, top two pairs or better is your aim. On the 765 flop, you have top two (which doesn't happen with 76 very often!) but this is a very wet flop. Since the big blind just checked his option pre-flop, he can have a wide range of hands that connect with this flop. He bets 6c into 8c, and I definitely like raising for value and protection. If villain has any 8, he has an open-ended straight draw, and any two hearts give him a flush draw. He might even have a combo draw with something like . You only minraised, and this is a mistake, because minraises give draws the right price to call. When raising, go for something like 2.5-3 times the size of the first bet, to get maximum value when you're ahead. Instead of just calling, like most draws would, villain decided to shove all in. This is worrying. He could have a set of trips, or even flopped a straight. That being said, he's more likely to have a combo draw, like flush draw plus pair, or straight draw plus pair. He might even have a worse two pair. I think calling is fine, but you're not going to be way ahead very often. Villain flips over 87, so you're actually in pretty good shape. Villain has no flush draw, so you just need to dodge 4s and 9s. Villain made a mistake by jamming with just 8 outs here, as it's clear you had a real hand when you raised the flop. Unfortunately, he hit his 8-outer on the turn, meaning you could only win outright by making a full house, or could chop if the river was an 8. You were indeed unlucky, but part of the problem is that you started with a trash hand. 76o almost never makes the nuts, but makes lots of expensive second-best hands. When you hit two pairs, you can get counterfeited by a better two pairs, or lose to a straight, flush or full house. For these reasons, it's not a hand I recommend playing. If you hadn't posted your blind out of turn, you woulnd't have been in this bad situation in the first place, because you could have folded pre-flop. Be more careful in future and only play hands that have a positive expectation. Hope this helps! Cheers, Arty

Hand Hello, Thank you for your indebt analyses of the hand. I have been playing the 1-2 cent ring tables in NL Holdem. Up to now I haven't lost any big hands, but I have a question for the following hand. Basically I had KK and the preflop play played out as if one of them might have AA. So I had a difficult decision weather to call or not. I decided to call because I was playing with a 1/4 of my bankroll so I had some cushion to fall back on. I would like to know for future refrence if this was the correct play or not: I have completed these steps in my #8 post: 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Please let me know the next steps.

Hi r91180, I think with 100bbs I would be raising preflop especially when the 3bet size from V4 is too small that give too good of odds for V2 to call and outdraw us. So I'm probably happy to get it in preflop with KK here. If someone has AA then oh well... it's just a cooler. I wouldn't worry too much about it umbup:
