Hi jellena88! With K4s from the BB, I get a min-raise and 6 callers. While the odds are ok to call here, with a bad hand and being out of position, I'm going to fold. Just because I have an ace or suited cards does not mean that they are playable, especially when out of position. It's better to muck and wait for a better hand, especially when I can play the pot IN position. If I saw the flop (which I would not), when I see that I get two pair and it's checked to me, I absolutely need to make a value bet here. Bets post-flop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 4 or more in the pot, I need to size the bet at the size of the pot, so I will bet 320. I do not want to bet less or check here, as this can give the opps a free card or the right odds to try to outdraw me. If an opp raises my bet, then whether I shove or fold needs to be based on my read of the opp. If they're extremely tight (AK or a set) then I'll muck. To anyone else, I'll shove. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Brilliant jellena88! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck!umbup: John (JWK24)

Hi jellena88! I'll analyse the hand in post #8.

With KTo on the button, I think it's OK to call in position when there are two limpers, but I would proceed cautiously post-flop if you just make one pair, because in multiway pots the winning hand is often top two pairs or better. As played, it's 4 handed on the flop and you make trips. You usually have the best hand here, so when it's checked to you, betting for value is good. (It would be a mistake to slowplay and check back, as someone could hit a straight draw for free). Somewhat suprisingly, a villain in middle position check-minraises. Sometimes this indicates a weak hand, but often it's a monster. That being said, on paired boards like this, I often see bad players overplaying one pair, so I wouldn't be too surprised if the villain just has a queen. Just flatting is best now, because you're either way ahead (trips beats a pair) or way behind (losing to better kings, and full houses). If you raised again, then the worse hands would fold (so you get no more value), meaning you'll be playing a big pot with hands that are beating you. So you flat, which is good. The turn is a 4 which doesn't change anything, but after raising the flop, the villain checks. This is suspicious. He either has a monster and wants to check-raise again, or he realises you probably have a king and he's losing with Qx. Checking behind looks good, as it could mean villain will give you some action on the river. The 4 on the river means you made a full house. When villain checks again, it seems he's given up. If I thought he was stronger, I would make a larger bet on the end with the nut full house, but since he seems to just have a queen (or maybe even total air) a smaller bet is best. 10c into 33c is OK. Villain folds, so his hand was Qx or worse. Well played!

                  Hope this helps!
To get more tuition on cash game basics, I recommend going to live training sessions for the Wednesday and Saturday Games if you can. You'll even be able to play alongside other PSO members in the Homegame club and get instant feedback on the way you play your hands. Good luck!

                  Cheers,
                  Arty

3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet:

                    -to protect against strong draws
-to gain value from very strong hands
-to bluff people off decent hands
