Hi, I have completed the basic quiz and watched both of the above videos. Below is a hand I played on a FR play money table. I was dealt KQo in the SB. It was limped around to me so I raised. I bet 4x the BB since I was playing EP and it didn't seem like any of the players at the table were paying attention to bet sizes (they were calling almost anything pre-flop). I also added another 3 BB since there were 3 limpers to get some of them to fold, and one more BB since I was in the SB. So total raise - 8 BB. The BB and one limper folded, so me and two others to the flop. flop: I decided to cbet since the flop was in my perceived range having raised pre-flop. I bet around 60% of the pot. Was this correct or should I have just checked? I really only have a gut-shot here and was hoping they would fold, but they both called. turn: this card didn't change much. since I was oop and they had called my last cbet i decided to check to control the pot size. if they had bet I probably would have folded, unless it was very small. river: I basically got really lucky. Bet around 75% of the pot since I assumed at least one would call. i thought about betting pot but figured since neither bet the turn they probably didn't have much and wouldn't call. thanks.

                  Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                  Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                  1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
                  2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
                  3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

                  Best of Luck!

Hi royalraise85, Three reasons to make a big bet are: 1.Bluff people off decent hands 2.Protect a hand against strong draws 3.Gain value from a very strong hand I have passed the cash game quiz. Is there anyway to see which questions I got wrong? It just tells me the final score. Below is a hand that I had difficulty with. This was the first hand I was dealt when I sat down. I think I played it pretty poorly. I was dealt KhKd in the BB. The cutoff raised to 3BB and I reraised to 5BB. Here I should have reraised 3x to 9BB flop: I made a 60% cbet. I was worried that he might have an ace because his initial preflop raise. he called the bet. There was also a flush draw on the board. turn: Since I was worried about the ace I just checked. I probably should have folded when he bet but his bet was less than 25% of the pot so I didn't think he had the ace. river: I definitely should have folded here but I really wanted to see what he had and it was less than a 1/3 of the pot. If he hit the flush I had thought he would have bet more. Thanks.

Hi icanhasmony?! I'll analyse the hand in post #10.

I think you played this reasonably well and you've already wotked out where you could have played the hand differently. I would definitely go with a bigger re-raise pre-flop. Making a 3x raise to 18c would be more standard. It's a horrible flop for KK, but since you're out of position (OOP) and you were the last raiser pre-flop, you should fire a continuation bet. Part of the reason for doing this is to prevent you being bluffed off the best hand. (If you checked, villain would usually bet with hands like QQ and JJ and you might fold, because you think he actually has the ace). When villain calls he usually does have the ace, so I would give up. The plan to check-fold the turn is good, but when villain bets so small, it's really hard to lay it down, because there's always the chance that villain has a draw. The most obvious draw gets there on the river (the flush), but QQ also improves to a set. You're not beating anything but JJ, and I think that would have slowed right down after you called 2 bets, so you should fold on the river.
It's interesting to see villain shows ups with a very weak hand. 52s is not strong enough to raise with pre-flop in the first place, let alone good enough to call a 3-bet with. Villain may have felt "priced in" by your small re-raise, but this player might have called a full size 3-bet too. Against particularly loose players, I'd make even bigger bets with my stronger hands pre-flop, because there's a great deal of value to be gained if villains aren't folding.

                        Hope this helps!
To get more tuition on cash game basics, I recommend going to live training sessions for the Wednesday and Saturday Games if you can. You'll even be able to play alongside other PSO members in the Homegame club and get instant feedback on the way you play your hands. Good luck!

                        Cheers,
